Known as Dhun-Noorayn (the one with two lights).
A paragon of modesty and chastity, epitome of generosity and gentleness, a shining example of forbearance and patience.
The author discusses the exemplary life of Uthman Ibn Affan (ra) from his birth to his unlawful murder. By dividing the book into seven chapters, which are as follows:
- ‘Uthman Ibn Affan (ra) Dhun-Noorayn Between Makkah And Madinah
- Uthman’s appointment as caliph, his approach to ruling and the main features of his character
- Financial and Judiciary Institutions at the time of ‘Uthman (ra)
- Conquests at the time of ‘Uthmin ibn Affan (ra)
- Governors at the time of ‘Uthman (ra)
- Reasons for the fitnah that led to the murder of ‘Uthman (ra)
- The Murder of ‘Uthman ibn Affan (ra)
The book does a great job by presenting the life of the third caliph of Islam in a simple manner. Starting with his life before and after Islam. Then his appointment as caliph and his approach to ruling. After that covering the reasons for fitnah (turmoil) and rebellion. As well provides good responses to various allegations against Uthman (ra). Finally, ends with the Muslims sorrow at the murder of Uthman (ra).
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested to know the life of the third caliph of Islam from authentic sources.
